East Renfrewshire Council has failed to attract a buyer for a rare number plate they believed would sell for over six-figures.
The local authority had hoped to attract interest from the rich and famous for its HS 0 plate to raise some vital cash. Bosses banked on likes of former One Direction star Harry Styles or TV presenter Helen Skelton being drawn to the plate which shares their initials.
However, the BBC reports that the registration number has attracted little interest since it went on sale in January 2023, according to a Freedom of Information Request.
East Renfrewshire Council says they remain ‘confident’ that it would attract a buyer.
It is understood that the plate hasn’t been used since 2022 and was originally inherited from what was the Eastwood District Council.
A spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council told the broadcaster: “Our historic number plate is still for sale and we remain confident it will fetch a six-figure sum.”
