The investigation into a racially aggravated assault that took place in Roker has led to police releasing images of a man that they would like to speak to.
At 4pm on Wednesday, September 11, Northumbria Police received a report of assault at the Tesco Extra in Sunderland retail park.
A member of staff at the supermarket was reported to have approached a man, who made several racist comments and went on to throw items of shopping at them. Then, he threatened to hit the staff member with a glass bottle, before being removed from the store.
Now, with enquiries currently still ongoing, officers have today released images of a man that they want to identify. He is believed to have been in the area at the time of the assault, and police believe that he may have information that could assist the investigation.
