Police are investigating an “incident” at a Northern Ireland shopping centre after video footage was circulated on social media.
In the video a confrontation unfolds outside what appears to be a shopping centre involving a man, a security guard and a number of young people.
The sound quality is poor but it appears that accusations are being made regarding the use of a mobile phone at changing rooms in the shopping centre. According to a few words attached to the video, the incident occurred at the Erneside Shopping Centre.
In a brief statement statement issued on Tuesday, the PSNI said: “Police have been made aware of suspicious activity around toilets at commercial premises in Enniskillen on Monday afternoon, 30th December. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
In a subsequent statement, the PSNI said a man had been arrested and charged with voyeurism.
The statement added: “Police investigating a report of suspicious activity around public toilets at commercial premises in Enniskillen on Monday afternoon, 30th December, have charged a man to court.
“The man, aged 62, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. He has since been charged with voyeurism and is due to appear before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday January 1.”
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service, the police said.
The statement added: “Officers in Enniskillen would like to thank the local community for their assistance with the identification of the suspect, which allowed the matter to be dealt with swiftly.
“We would remind the public that the further publication of information in relation to this matter could potentially create a risk of impeding or prejudicing court proceedings.”
