Proud Aberdeen parents welcome first north-east baby of 2025

An Aberdeen family is celebrating the arrival of their second baby together as NHS Grampian marked its first arrival of 2025 in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Proud mum Charlotte Anthony, 34, and her partner Charlie, 36, were delighted to welcome baby Gabriel into the world at 1.47am at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.

Gabriel was the first baby born in the NHS Grampian region, and he is now looking forward to meeting his big brother Charlie, 13.

Weighing 9lbs 4oz, mum Charlotte says she is ecstatic after his arrival, especially as he was due on December 20.

She added that his birth falling on New Year’s Day made the beginning of 2025 even more special, as she added: “The midwives were excellent, so patient.”

The now mum-of-two also expressed her gratitude for all the support the family have received in bringing Gabriel into the world.

Plenty of other families across Scotland are also celebrating New Year’s Day arrivals, with the first baby of 2025 born just minutes after the bells.
