Prince William’s ‘secret weapon’ who could ensure Prince Harry and Meghan remain out of the Royal picture

Prince William will be able to unleash a “secret weapon” to help him when he ascends to the throne, it has been claimed. And it will mean that the Prince of Wales will not have to rely on his estranged brother Prince Harry to keep up appearances for the Firm, and keep him in the USA.

William and Kate have formed a strong bond with Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, who has stepped up in the last year while Kate and King Charles were treated for cancer. She, alongside her husband Prince Edward, have upped their number of Royal engagements and endeared themselves to the British public.

The couple are predicted to play a huge role in William’s future plans for the Royal Family when he eventually takes over from his father Charles. According to the Times, a Buckingham Palace source revealed that he and his wife “get on very well” with Sophie and Edward.

Sophie joined the Firm in 1999 and has slowly grew in popularity after a number of scandals engulfed them, resulting in both Prince Harry and Prince Andrew removing themselves from the public eye. She has been described as having a tireless work ethic and dedication to the public.

Her impressive track record has earned the reputation of a “secret weapon” for the Royal Family, with William keen to leverage her skills and popularity. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are poised to take on more responsibilities and play a more prominent role in the monarchy’s future.

Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine and biographer of Prince Edward, told the Times that Sophie is not taking credit for her success. She said: “With Sophie, it’s not all about her. She was one of the first ‘outsiders’ who came into the royal family and realised it’s about all of ‘them’ working together as a team. She really gets that and doesn’t want praise heaped on her.”

Over the last few years, Sophie has received praise for exhibiting “soft power” by extending the Royal Family’s influence overseas, which included a notable visit to Ukraine where she met with fighters and the government last year. She wrote about this and said: “Many people have said how brave or courageous I was for going. I am neither.

“The brave people are those who have endured extreme violence and survived. The courageous are those who have reported the crimes committed against them.” The rise in popularity of Sophie and Edward is a further blow to Prince Harry’s hopes of a return to the fold.

With Prince William on the throne, the Firm may be stretched thin for active Royals to take part in public-facing events. The Duke of Sussex remains in the US with his wife Meghan Markle but is reportedly not adverse to a return to his former life, but will probably need an apology from his estranged brother.

But if Prince Edward and Sophie keep up their hard work and become more popular and recognisable among the public then there would be no need to bring Harry back in.
