Teenagers and young adults looking to pursue a professional career in rowing are being given the chance to be ‘spotted’ at a prestigious sporting event held in Gloucester. The British Rowing Talent ID Mass Testing Day, hosted by the Hartpury Talent ID Centre (Performance Development Academy), is open to 13 to 20-year-olds from Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas who want to test their potential in the sport of rowing.
Participants will undergo a series of physical measurements and strength tests run by our expert coaching team. Weather permitting, they will also have the chance to experience rowing on the water in a taster session.
Ben Jackson, Performance Development Academy Coach for Gloucestershire’s British Rowing, said: “The Hartpury centre is proud to be the most successful of it’s kind, helping nurture the next generation of rowing talent and offering pathways to regional, national and international success.
“The Hartpury centre is a cornerstone of one of the most successful talent identification programmes in the world, identifying roughly 50 talented young people each year who show promise in the sport.”
The event will take place at Gloucester Boathouse on Sunday, February 9, at 10am.
