A popular pub in the west of Ireland is making dry January a little more challenging by introducing an irresistible new offer for Guinness drinkers.
An Púcán in Co Galway is offering all-you-can drink Guinness every Saturday and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm for €35 per person. Customers taking part in the deal will have 2 hours to drink as much of the ‘black stuff’ as their hearts desire. An Púcán is also known for their delicious pub food and customers will also get to enjoy Blaa and wedges while they slug down creamy pints.
The pub is a favorite among young people in the city and often attracts tourists with their tempting deals. According to Joe.ie, last year An Púcán rewarded those who were able to successfully ‘split the G’ by offering them a free pint.
‘Splitting the G’ is a popular bar game in Ireland, where customers will try to accurately line up the top of the black stout with the letter ‘G’ on the Guinness glass. The game, which must be completed in one long sup and without putting the glass down, became a trend when people began sharing their attempt on social media.
Recently, Guinness drinkers in the UK were met with a massive, nationwide shortage as pubs struggled to keep customers happy during the festive season. Diageo, the company that owns Guinness, admitted they are trying to “manage the distribution” because of “exceptional demand.”

The shortage does not seem to have affected Irish pubs, and certainly not An Púcán. No doubt there will be many customers attempting to ‘split the G’ in An Púcán in the coming weeks, and with the unlimited Guinness offer, they will have several chances to attempt and master the art of it.
