A poll of 1,500 lovers of the chocolate treat has unveiled the most popular methods of consuming a Cadbury Creme Egg – and the techniques vary from traditional to downright bizarre.

Common approaches include sucking out the creamy centre, unwrapping the foil like a banana peel and nibbling bit by bit, or even employing a teaspoon. But the top choice for a quarter of creme egg enthusiasts was to bite off the top and use their tongue to scoop out the gooey filling.

Cadbury, the creators of the iconic treat, commissioned the research as part of its ‘Admit It To Win’ competition encouraging fans to share their unique eating habits for a chance to win up to £10,000.

Company spokesperson Joshua Collier commented: “We’ve long asked ‘how do you eat yours? ‘ But honestly, there’s no right or wrong way and people should do their thing – we’re finding more and more wacky ways people are eating theirs.”

Interestingly, the study also revealed that 16% of fans prefer to savour their egg alone, fearing judgement from others on the way they eat it.

One individual confessed to sucking out the creamy filling with a straw, while another takes a more measured approach, devouring the goo first and then freezing the chocolate shell to savour the following day.

“Some of them are almost unbelievable,'” Joshua added, “and there are methods we’d never even thought of.”

Some Brits have devised creative, and somewhat unorthodox, methods of eating their beloved Cadbury Creme Eggs, such as deep-frying them or sandwiching them between croissants for a sweet and savoury treat.

The Creme Egg has also inspired some adventurous eaters to get inventive in the kitchen, with 11% of those polled using the chocolate treat as an ingredient in various recipes.

Brownies, cookies, and cupcakes are among the most popular creations, with some even incorporating it into pizza, croissants, and a sweet twist on the classic Scotch egg.

For many, the Cadbury Creme Egg is an Easter staple, yet, a sizeable 47% wish it were available year-round.

As Joshua Collier notes: ““Food is deeply personal, and the way we enjoy it often says something about who we are. That’s why experimenting with how we eat isn’t just fun—it’s an expression of individuality.

“Cadbury Creme Eggs have been a canvas for playful indulgence for decades, inspiring everything from debates to challenges, and this spirit of experimentation is something to be cherished.”
