Emergency services have descended on a supermarket car park after receiving reports of concerns for the welfare of a man. Officers from Essex Police were called to the ASDA in Main Road, Harwich, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Emergency responders, including from Essex Police, attended the scene after being called at around 1.55am on Wednesday morning (January 1). The force worked with their partners to resolve the incident in a safe and quick manner.
Pictures seen by EssexLive appeared to show numerous police vehicles and officers at the scene. Part of the road at the junction with Heron Way had also been cordoned off with blue and white police tape.
A spokesperson said: “We have now resolved an incident in Harwich. We had been called to concerns for the welfare of a man on a roof of the Asda store in Main Road at around 1.55am on Wednesday 1 January.
“We worked with our emergency service partners to resolve the incident as quickly and safely as possible. The man has now been brought to safety and arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and causing a public nuisance.”
