Police reveal reason for emergency response near Leicestershire supermarket

Police have revealed why emergency services were called to an area near a Leicestershire supermarket yesterday afternoon. Officers say they were called following concerns for a man’s welfare.

Leicestershire Police said today (Friday, December 3) that it was called at 3.34pm yesterday (Thursday, 2 January) to an incident on the B582 Blaby Road, Wigston, near a Tesco supermarket. The incident involved a man who was reported to be on the wrong side of the railway bridge near the South Wigston Tesco superstore.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “Police received a call at 3.34pm yesterday (Thursday 2 January) following the concern for the welfare of a man who was reported to be on the wrong side of the railway bridge on the B852 Blaby Road, Wigston. Officers attended at the scene and the man came down from the bridge shortly after.”
