A woman has sadly died after a crash between an unmarked police car and a Nissan Micra. The woman, who was in her 80s, was rushed to hospital following the crash on Park Hall Road.
The unmarked Skoda Octavia was using its blue lights when it crashed with the Micra which was travelling in the other direction near to the junction with Hulme Road in Stoke-on-Trent at 3.50pm on Thursday, December 5.
The woman was later readmitted on December 16 and tragically died nine days later. Following the incident, police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses after a woman sadly died following a collision with an unmarked police car in Stoke-on-Trent. It happened on Park Hall Road, near to the junction with Hulme Road, shortly after 3.50pm on Thursday 5 December.
“An unmarked police Skoda Octavia that was using its blue lights came into collision with a red Nissan Micra that was going in the opposite direction. The driver of the Micra, a woman in her 80s, was taken to hospital following the collision.
“She was readmitted to hospital on 16 December and died nine days later. Specially-trained officers are continuing to support her family at this time.”
They added: “A re-referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following the woman’s death. We’re keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or those who saw the vehicles in the lead up to the collision.
