Police are appealing for information after a wild bird was fatally shot in Lincolnshire.
A buzzard was found injured as the result of being shot in Grainthorpe earlier this month and taken to an emergency vets. After being treated, it was collected by volunteers at local organisation Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue.
Sadly, the buzzard died as a result of its injuries.
Because the killing or injuring of any wild bird is a criminal offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Lincolnshire Police have launched an investigation.
DC Aaron Flint from the force’s Rural Crime Action Team said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who has information about the shooting of birds in our county. Please don’t think it’s not worth reporting, it very much is and helps us to build a picture of this sort of crime.”
