Police were called after onlookers became concerned about a man on a bridge in Coventry. He was seen on Lythalls Lane in Holbrooks.
Officers closed off Lythalls Lane at around 10.20pm on Wednesday (January 8). Concerns had been raised for the welfare of a man, who has not been identified.
Paramedics were also dispatched, but the man had already come down from the bridge and was detained under the Mental Health Act. He was taken to hospital for further assessment, West Midlands Police said.

In a statement to CoventryLive, West Midlands Police said: “We were called following concerns for the welfare of a man on a bridge on Lythalls Lane, Coventry, at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, January 8. He safely came down and was detained under the Mental Health Act.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called initially to this incident at 10.54pm but were then stood down as no longer required when an ambulance was en route.”
