Police appeal for information on New Year disturbance in Rutherglen that left five needing treatment

Police are appealing for information following a disturbance in Rutherglen on New Year’s Day.

Emergency services attended Pinkerton Avenue around 4.40am on Wednesday, January 1.

A 34-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were both taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

A 40-year-old man was also taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment. And a man and woman, both aged 38, were treated at the scene.

Detective Constable Graeme Easton said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and a police presence remains in the area.

“I am appealing for anyone who has any information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, who was in the area and may have dash-cam footage or who may have private CCTV which could help to contact us.”
