A motorist who pleaded guilty to damaging a BT roadside cabinet after colliding with it has been banned from driving for three years.
Dean Clarke, aged 39, recently appeared at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court where he faced two charges relating to an incident on Morshead Road on June 30 last year.
Clarke, of Grenville Road, Plymouth was accused of driving a Ford Fiesta “without reasonable consideration to other users”. In addition, he was also accused of failing to stop after a road accident which saw damaged caused to a BT roadside electrical cabinet.
Clarke pleaded guilty to both charges and was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £154.
Magistrates handed Clarke a suspended jail term of eight weeks, suspending it for 12 months. In addition he was ordered to take part in alcohol abstinence and monitoring to ensure he abstained from alcohol for 60 days. Clarke was also told he would have to complete 150 hours unpaid work within the next 12 months.
Magistrates also disqualified Clarke from driving for 36 months.
