A popular restaurant and takeaway in Aberdeen has announced it is closing down for good after months of uncertainty.
The Royal China on North Deeside Road in Peterculter had been shut for several months, posing questions over its long-term future after just two years.
But owners have finally confirmed they will be shutting for good under its current management, six months on from announcing their indefinite closure.
In a post on social media, the owners explained the factors behind their decision as they apologised for the ‘silence’ since shutting in July.
They wrote on Facebook: “We are sad to be announcing the permanent closure of Royal China under its current management.
“This is not the announcement we wanted or expected to make when we announced an indefinite closure back in July.
“However, certain factors including medical grounds have resulted in this action being taken – and the business has ceased trading.
“We apologise for the silence over the last few months, and we thank you for all your support you gave us for almost two years.”

Fans of the takeaway expressed their disappointment, with one posting it was the “end of an era”, and another saying “No way gutted, best Chinese. Used to travel from tarland to it sad that you have closed down for good.”
“Gutted, loved Royal China. Best Chinese in Peterculter, so sad it’s closed, hope someone buys it and opens up again,” posted a third.
