A pedestrian aged in his 40s has died following a crash on the A20 on New Year’s Day. Officers are now appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage following the fatal collision.
Kent Police was called at 11.18pm on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 to a report that a pedestrian had sustained serious injuries on Hythe Road at Mersham le Hatch, near to the junction with The Street, Mersham. Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service.
A man in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.
Shortly after midnight, a damaged Silver Honda Jazz was recovered by officers in the Osborne Road area of Willesborough and two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remain in custody while enquiries continue.
Investigators are urging anyone with relevant information, who may have been in the area at the time – including local residents with private CCTV and drivers with dashcam – to come forward.
