Old photos of Liverpool city centre street going back decades

Fascinating photos capture moments on one popular Liverpool street through time as different generations will remember it. One of the city centre’s busiest streets, thousands visit or pass through Lord Street every day.

Today, the area is home to the likes of Rococo Coffee House, H&M, Menkind, Popeyes and more. But like many parts of our city through the decades, a lot has changed, from well-known shops and retailers to shopping habits and the way we spend our leisure time.

And these photos, courtesy of our archives, Mirrorpix, are bound to stir some memories. Taken between the 1940s and 1990s, you can see everything from the street post-war to the businesses which once called it home.
