An investigation has been launched into the mysterious death of a man as his body was pulled from a river after he was last spotted carrying a large black holdall.
Emergency services were called to the River Wensum near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge in Norwich at 4.25am on Saturday with reports a man had gone into the water. Police, fire, and ambulance all attended the scene and dragged the man, in his 40s, from the river.
The man was rushed to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, but died a short time later. Norfolk Police have informed his family, though his identity has not yet been released.

Cops have launched an investigation as his death is currently being treated as unexplained. Police are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time as they try to work out how the man ended up in the river in the first place.
The man is escribed as “an Asian man, of slim build and around 5ft 9 tall”. He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, black trousers and a distinctive black wide brimmed had. He was also seen carrying a large black holdall.
