Derbyshire police say four teenagers who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have been released. Noah Smedley, 18, was fatally stabbed in Rose Avenue, Ilkeston, on Saturday (December 28) evening.
Seven people were arrested initially, including four 17-year-old boys, on suspicion of murder. A 52-year-old man and two 16-year-old girls, as well as one of the 17-year-old boys, were all arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the investigation.
A fifth 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with murder on Tuesday, December 31. He appeared at Derby Crown Court on Friday, January 3 and was told he will face trial at the same court on July 28.
Now, Derbyshire police have said the four teenagers that were all arrested on suspicion of murder following Noah’s death have been released. A spokesperson for the force said: “Four 17-year-old boys that were all arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Noah Smedley in Ilkeston, have been released.
“A 16-year-old girl that was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail pending further enquiries, and another 16-year-old girl, also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released with no further action.
“A 52-year-old man that was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
