New weather map shows Coventry turning white with heavy snow tonight

A new weather map shows Coventry and Warwickshire turning white with snow tonight. The latest WX Charts shows heavy snow arriving at around 9pm this evening (January 4).

Snow is colour-coded from dark purple to white – with white being the most severe. The map shows an area of white over our region tonight.

But snow and icy rain showers are set to arrive earlier. The Met Office weather map indicates this will start at around 7pm.

This is due to last until the early hours of this morning, with those out on the roads urged to be cautious. This coincides with a Met Office amber alert for snow and ice, which remains in place until 12noon tomorrow.

But a less severe, yellow alert for snow and ice, will remain until before midnight tomorrow night (January 5). However, there could be a chance of ‘wintry showers’ on Monday.

That is according to the latest local Met Office forecast for Coventry and Warwickshire. It states: “Icy surfaces remain likely in sheltered spots. Drier Monday with a few wintry showers heading into Tuesday.

“Cloudier on Wednesday with hazy sunshine. Staying cold with a risk of ice.”
