A new Tesco Express branch will open on one of Nottingham’s busiest streets. The retailer has submitted a licencing application to Nottingham City Council, revealing the new shop will be located in a ground floor unit at student accommodation block IQ Nelson Court on Lower Parliament Street, opposite the Motorpoint Arena.
According to the document, submitted on January 3, the shop would stay open between 6am and midnight every day of the week. It is unclear when the store will open or how many jobs will be on offer.
The application reads: “The Licensing Register, and full details of this application can be viewed at the offices of the Licensing Authority at Communities, Environment & Resident Services, Communities, Nottingham City Council, Licensing, Eastcroft Depot, Humber Building, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 3AH between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday by prior appointment. Responsible Authorities or any persons can make representations in writing to the Licensing Authority at any time up to 31 January 2025.”
The new shop will be Tesco’s eighth Express branch in Nottingham city centre. The other seven locations are on Upper Parliament Street, Shakespeare Street, Angel Row, Maid Marian Way, Bottle Lane, Station Street and inside Victoria Centre.
