New snow map shows when whole of UK to be hit by 30-hour blizzard

A new snow map shows when the whole of the UK is set to be hit by a 30-hour blizzard. It indicates snow is on its way on January 24.

It comes as an amber cold alert remains in place. The WXCharts’ data shows snow will be falling at a rate of around 3cm per hour in parts of the country, reports the Mirror. The colour-coded map shows a band of purple, which indicates snow, sweeping the country, including the Midlands area.

The news comes as the recent cold snap is set to subside across Coventry and Warwickshire. The latest local Met Office forecast predicts that milder weather is on its way this week.

Following the sub zero temperatures that have dominated over the past week, highs of 9C are set for the middle of this week. The latest local forecast is as follows:

Today

Patchy fog and frost at first clearing to leave a mostly dry day. Some sunshine in the morning, though cloudier later, especially in the north and west. Less chilly, but rather windy for a time, before the wind eases later. Maximum temperature 6C

Tonight

Early clear spells across southern and eastern areas, but mostly cloudy overnight. Rain in the northwest, turning light and patchy as it extends southeast across the region. Generally frost-free. Minimum temperature 3C.

Tuesday

Tuesday looks set to be a mostly dry but largely cloudy day. One or two brighter breaks. Temperatures will be near average, though it will be a little breezy. Maximum temperature 9C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday

Generally dry on Wednesday and to end the week. Often fairy cloudy but some bright spells, and although temperatures near average, patchy frost and fog forming during overnight cloud breaks.
