A new Met Office weather map shows the exact London areas that could be hit with snow as a further weather warning is issued for the city. Following a blanketing of snow across the weekend, snow is set to move across the south of England as we move through the week.
By Wednesday January 8 the yellow weather warning will cover south London from 9am through to midnight. The Met Office highlights that the warning means there is a “small chance that power cuts will occur” and there is a “small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel”.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Frank Saunders, said: “Hail, sleet or snow showers is expected to move into southern England during the early hours of Tuesday. Rain or hail is more likely towards some western coasts.
“Icy stretches which develop overnight as a result of these showers, or the recent wet conditions, could bring some disruption to travel. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Mike Silverstone added: “Whilst not all those in the warning area may be affected, it is possible that that 2-5 cm of snow may accumulate fairly widely. “
