A new luxury Edinburgh city centre hotel has opened its doors in Edinburgh replacing an office block.
The Resident Edinburgh, the brands first Scottish property, is officially ready to welcome guests at Drumsheugh Gardens.
The hotel homes 164 rooms and suites, which each include mini kitchens, a dressing area and luxurious en-suites. Some boast views of Edinburgh Castle or the Firth of Forth.
Having previously been home to HMRC’s offices and dubbed by locals for decades as an “eyesore”, The Resident Edinburgh has transformed the venue.
David JM Orr, CEO of Resident Hotels Ltd said: “We have been longing to let our lovely team bring our heartfelt hospitality to Edinburgh. We look forward to guests enjoying a home like sense of belonging that comes from the authenticity of the welcome.”
He added: “Our elegant new hotel also enjoys the verdant amenity of a fine garden square yet offers guests the best of the city right on their doorstep, many world-class destinations within a very short flat walk, unusual in a city with as many hills as Rome.”

“The Resident Edinburgh will offer guests a great experience in one of the world’s most beautiful, historic, cultured, educated yet modern and thriving cities. Edinburgh’s renowned culture and exceptional restaurant scene are rightly celebrated well beyond the UK and Scotland.
“With superb connectivity by air and rail to London and UK cities, Edinburgh Airport is growing rapidly with direct flights to more than 150 global cities, significantly connecting with the USA, Middle and Far East.”
“The hotel featured in Cop26 highlighting our thoughtful approach to sustainability, synchronising the repurposing of a 1960’s building with sustainable redevelopment. Our guests tend to visit for a little longer, investing more time in the city, meaning we are well placed to align with a vision of visitation that is positive and valuable to the city.”
