For those of a certain age who fondly reminisce about their younger clubbing days but don’t have the energy, inclination or lifestyle to party into the early hours of the morning, a new emerging trend that will make sure you’re tucked up in bed early is coming to Exeter.
If you love a boogie but want to be home early enough for a takeaway in front of the telly, need to get back for a babysitter or don’t want to lose out on any sleep to feel fresher the next morning then daytime clubbing could be just what you’re looking for.
And the good news is that getting the party started early in Exeter this year at daytime events that run into the early evening are a couple of famous faces from back in the day. More events are expected to be announced throughout the year but here are some of the confirmed ones so far.

Exeter Phoenix
Former Fun House legend and radio DJ Pat Sharp will be launching a new retro daytime dance party in Exeter. Festival brand Let’s Rock has chosen Exeter to host its first Let’s Rock Club Tropicana event.
Pat will be joined by Scottish crooner Owen Paul. He is famed for the song My Favourite Waste of Time, which reached number three on the UK chart, in 1986.

It’s time to relive the rhythm, reconnect with the beat, and party. Mum’s The Word is a daytime ’90s dance event for those who want to be home by midnight.
For the first event, legendary DJ Judge Jules will be headlining, supported by the epic Love Deluxx, and local talent DJ Cal Griffin and ZAC. It will take place from 3pm to 9.30pm.

Bed By 10 is a chance for ravers over 30 to relive the peak of the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s clubbing scene. Expect crazy visuals, confetti showers, Co2 cannons and more as resident DJ spins all the club classics.

Beat the January blues by jamming with your kids at a daytime music gig. The post-punk and folk double bill features Witching Waves and Sound of the Sirens.
Extras for children include children’s art table with local artist Sophie Doodles, face painting with Sonia Kemp, toys, mats and comfy spaces. All ages welcome, ear defenders recommended for little ears.
