New direct flight destination for Newquay airport

New flights from Newquay Airport will connect Cornwall to Essex this summer. The direct flights will depart daily from the spring.

The first flight to London Southend Airport with Eastern Airways will depart on April 3. Fares will start at £59.99.

Airport bosses believe the new route will be “incredibly popular” and provide another option for Cornwall travellers looking to get to London or Europe, along with tourists looking to get to Cornwall this summer.

From Southend, it takes 52 minutes to get to London Liverpool Street by train while destinations you can fly to in Europe include Italy, Spain, France and Switzerland. The new route means Newquay will have three London airport options, with flights also operating to Stansted and Gatwick.

Newquay Airport said: “We’re confident this route will be incredibly popular with travellers from the east of England looking to experience Cornwall’s stunning coastline and rich heritage this summer season. The new service from Eastern Airways provides a convenient and efficient way to travel between the east and west of our country and meets the increased leisure demand in the summer months.”
