A warehouse has caught fire in an Essex village with firefighters warning residents to stay indoors. Plumes of smoke can be seen from afar from the fire which has taken place in Nazeing this afternoon (January 15).

The incident has taken place at a warehouse in Stubbins Hall Lane to the south of the village near the border with Hertfordshire. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service are attending the scene and have advised people to avoid the area.

A spokesman said: “We are in attendance at a warehouse fire in Stubbins Hall Lane, Nazeing. The fire is producing a lot of smoke, so please keep your doors and windows closed if you live in the area, and stay inside if possible.”

Pictures circulating online show huge plumes of smoke rising into the air, with much of the warehouse on fire. It is not yet known what has caused the incident.

All roads are open as usual and there is little impact on traffic. However, people are advised to avoid Stubbins Hall Lane due to the disruption caused by the fire.
