Met Office’s ‘weekend of snow’ for Coventry as 45 hour long warning in place

The Met Office has issued a 45 hour long snow warning for Coventry and Warwickshire this weekend. The yellow alert states that ‘h eavy snow may cause some disruption over the weekend’.

It comes into force at 12noon on Saturday (January 4) and remains in place until 9am on Monday morning (January 6). This could cause havoc for those heading back to work and school next week following the Christmas and New Year break.

The yellow warning is in place across the whole of the Midlands area and warns that there is a ‘small chance’ that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected. It also says there is slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off

The forecast for the weekend comes as the next 48 hours are set to be cold. Many have woken up to frosty streets and cars this morning (January 2).

It is set to be a dry day but the latest local forecast warns it is going to quickly turn ‘very cold and frosty’ after dark tonight. The minimum temperature this evening is set to be -4C.

Clear skies and light winds will allow for a very cold night with a widespread sharp frost and perhaps some ice in places. Isolated freezing fog patches are possible. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

The forecast says that tomorrow (January 3) it is set to be colder and breezier.
