The Met Office has warned of freezing fog for Coventry and Warwickshire as temperatures are set to plunge to -6C. Tonight (January 8) is going to be especially chilly across our area as forecasters warn it is going to be ‘very cold’ with freezing fog setting in.
The temperature is set to fall as low as -6C and the icy spell is set to continue into tomorrow (January 9) with a prediction of ‘wintry showers’ following lingering freezing fog patches and a few wintry showers.
It coincides with an extended cold weather health warning, which comes into force at noon and lasts until Sunday. This warns that the drop in temperature poses serious risks to health particularly among the elderly and vulnerable.

There is, according to the local forecast, the chance of some ‘hill snow’ on Friday and the cold weather will continue into Saturday. However milder weather is set to be on its way on Sunday.

Tonight
Cloud clearing to leave a dry night with clear spells developing. Turning very cold underneath the clear skies with freezing fog patches developing and a frost. Minimum temperature -6 C.
Thursday
A very cold start with freezing fog patches lingering and a few wintry showers. Brighter through the afternoon with sunny spells. Another cold day. Maximum temperature 4C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Turning cloudier on Friday with some rain and hill snow. Murky start on Saturday with rain and drizzle at times then brighter spells into Sunday. Cold start then becoming milder.
