Met Office town-by-town forecast for Somerset as snow looms

Somerset is braced for snowfall and sub-zero temperatures this weekend. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice from 12pm tomorrow (Saturday, January 4) until 11.59pm on Sunday.

It’s set to be a cold start to the weekend with temperatures dropping below 0C tomorrow morning. The snow is then expected to arrive in Somerset at around 4pm before persisting throughout the evening.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also issued an amber cold health alert which is in place until 12pm next Wednesday (January 8). People have been warned of significant disruption across health and social care services.

Taunton

Saturday, January 4

People in Taunton will wake up to temperatures of 0C tomorrow morning. The Met Office outlook shows the mercury reaching 4C at 2pm before snow hits.

The first flurries are expected to land at 3pm, continuing until 7pm. There will then be heavy rain, and temperatures of 2C, until 12am.

Sunday, January 5

Conditions will be milder on Sunday with temperatures of 5C at 6am and 9C at 9am. There will be a sunny spell at 12pm before rain arrives in the afternoon.

The Met Office expects light rain to hit at 3pm. It will then last for the remainder of the day.

Bridgwater

Saturday, January 4

Bridgwater will see temperatures of 0C at 8am tomorrow before the mercury climbs to 4C by 12pm. The morning and early afternoon will be cloudy and overcast.

The Met Office outlook shows the first snowfall arriving at 4pm. This will then turn to heavy rain by 9pm.

Sunday, January 5

There will be heavy rain in Bridgwater during the early hours of Sunday morning. The downpours will ease but remain persistent throughout the afternoon.

The temperatures will be milder with the Met Office expecting 8C at 9am and 11C at 12pm. The mercury will drop to 7C by 9pm.

Bath

Saturday, January 4

The weekend will begin with sub-zero temperatures in Bath. Residents can expect the mercury to be at -1C at 7am tomorrow.

There will be some bright spells during the morning but temperatures will remain chilly. Light snowfall will then arrive at 4pm and last throughout the rest of the day.

Sunday, January 5

Sunday will start with heavy rain in Bath and a temperature of 6C at 9am. The rain will then persist throughout the afternoon.

The Met Office is predicting temperatures of 10C at 12pm and 3pm. It will then drop slightly as we head into the evening.

Yeovil

Saturday, January 4

The temperature in Yeovil will be 0C between 6am and 8am tomorrow before increasingly slightly through the morning. The skies will be overcast before flurries of snow arrive.

The Met Office is predicting snowfall to land between 4pm and 9pm. There will then be a burst of heavy rain.

Sunday, January 5

Conditions will be far milder in Yeovil on Sunday. The Met Office is expecting the mercury to be at 8C at 8am and 11C at 9am.

The temperature will peak at 12C at 3pm. There will be persistent light rain throughout the day.

Wells

Saturday, January 4

While conditions will not be freezing in Wells tomorrow morning, the temperature will still be around 2C at 9am. The skies will be cloudy throughout the morning as the mercury increases slightly.

The snow will arrive with light flurries between 4pm and 10pm. The day will finish with a band of heavy rain.

Sunday, January 5

There will be heavy rain in the early hours of Sunday morning. It will then ease slightly before persisting throughout the remainder of the day.

The Met Office is predicting a temperature of 6C at 6am and 9C at 9am. The mercury is set to peak at 11C between 12pm and 3pm.

Frome

Saturday, January 4

There is set to be sub-zero temperatures in Frome tomorrow morning. The Met Office radar is predicting temperatures of -2C at 6am and -1C at 8am.

The day will remain chilly until light snowfall arrives at 4pm. This will once again turn into rain by 10pm.

Sunday, January 5

Frome is also set for wet weather on Sunday with the heaviest downpours expected during the early hours of the morning. Conditions will be mild.

The mercury is expected to hit 7C at 9am. It will peak at 11C at 3pm.

Weston-super-Mare

Saturday, January 4

The outlook for Weston-super-Mare is similar with a chilly start expected to tomorrow. The temperature will be 0C by the time people wake up in the town.

Light snow is also expected to arrive by 4pm and last until dark. The rain will then hit at 9pm.

Sunday, January 5

Sunday morning will see heavy rainfall continue in Weston-super-Mare. It will then ease throughout the afternoon.

The mercury is expected to be at 4C at 6am and 6C at 9am. It will peak at 10C between 12pm and 3pm.
