Met Eireann has issued a further status yellow warning for the entire country just as a big change in our weather is set to occur.
The country has been in the grips of severe arctic temperatures for the past week with parts seeing as much as 10 cm of snow while others had to battle black ice.
Met Eireann has issued a brand new weather warning for every county that’s set to come into effect at 6pm tonight until 9am on Sunday.
The status yellow warning for fog will lead to impaired visibility.
Another leading voice on Irish weather has confirmed that temperatures are starting to rise across the country but has warned of the dangers of black ice.
Next week will see the return of much milder and drier weather as a high pressure front pushes in from the south but it wont be long before more stormy conditions arrive.
Donegal Weather Channel said: “A big change in temperatures over the last few hours as thing continues to turn milder and snow melts. Please be aware as snow melts icy conditions will still be possible with patches of black ice.
Next week will see higher pressure near by with alot of drier and milder weather and the signal coming into the last week of January is for some what unsettled conditions potentially stormy with colder conditions at times.
Meanwhile, Met Eireann has released its latest forecast for the weekend with temperatures reaching double digits in parts.
Today
Some well scattered showers today but otherwise dry with some sunny spells. Patches of mist and fog will form in light to moderate southeasterly or variable winds. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees.
Tonight
Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells. Patches of mist and fog will develop in a light and variable breeze. Cloud will increase in the west later, bringing some patches of drizzle, and a moderate southeasterly wind will develop. Lowest temperatures of 0 to +3 degrees.
Tomorrow
It will become cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle tomorrow. It’ll become breezy with a moderate to fresh southerly wind developing and temperatures will gradually rise through the day, with values of 8 to 11 degrees in the afternoon.
