Amad Diallo is closing in on a bumper new deal with Manchester United.

The Ivorian winger has been one of the few stars to emerge with credit following United’s woeful season up to date. Diallo’s current contract runs until June 30, 2025, although United have the option to extend it by an extra 12 months.

But it’s understood United manager Ruben Amorim is keen for Diallo to be handed a new long-term deal. Amorim has been impressed with Diallo’s performances since taking charge, and how he has adapted to the new system being introduced.

The Portuguese coach sees Diallo as one of the players who can have a successful future under him at Old Trafford. Talks between Diallo’s representatives and club bosses have been on-going for several weeks and have progressed.

The 22-year-old has scored five goals this season, including the dramatic winner in the Manchester derby at the Etihad last month. Diallo joined United from Atalanta in 2021 and is now establishing himself in the team, following loan spells with both Rangers and Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Italian giants Juventus have refused to rule out a move for United flop Joshua Zirzkee in this month’s transfer window. Zirkzee has been linked with a return to Italy after struggling to make an impact with United.

The Holland international was jeered after being substituted in the first half of Monday’s home defeat to Newcastle. Juventus managing director Cristiano Giuntoli said: “Zirkzee? It’s not appropriate to mention names, but we are keeping an eye on any interesting opportunities, and we will move to strengthen.”
