A man has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle after suffering a medical episode in Newcastle City Centre.
Shortly after 3.30pm this afternoon, Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called to Blackett Street after reports of someone feeling unwell.
In a statement, the NEAS said: “We received a call at 3.36pm on Thursday 16 January to reports of a person unwell in Eldon Square, just off Blackett Street in Newcastle. We dispatched two ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic, and a clinical team leader to the scene. One patient was taken to the RVI for further treatment.”
Northumbria Police also attended the incident in the city centre.
A spokesperson for the force added: “Shortly after 3.40pm today (Tuesday), we were alerted to a report of a man who had fallen ill in Eldon Square in Newcastle city centre.
“Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.”
