A driver was arrested after they attempted to join the M6 toll while travelling in the wrong direction, police have said. The man was driving towards oncoming traffic during the incident in Norton Canes, Staffordshire.
Thankfully, police intervened before anyone was hurt. Officers then found that the man did not possess a valid driving licence and he was not insured.
The man was arrested by police earlier this evening (Monday, January 13). A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police shared the news of what happened on social media.

Writing on the Cannock Police Facebook page, they said: “Tonight a male has been arrested following reports that a vehicle was attempting to join the M6 Toll in Norton Canes, but was going the wrong way towards oncoming traffic.
“Thankfully officers from the Staffordshire Road Crime Team located the vehicle before anyone was hurt.”
The spokesperson added: “Checks revealed the driver had no license and no insurance. Male arrested and vehicle seized. Incident 0551 of the 13th of January refers.”
