Man and woman ‘threatened in Folkestone by moped rider with knife’

A man and a woman were reportedly threatened in Folkestone by moped rider with a knife. Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the alleged traffic incident.

It was reported that at around 2.55pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the victims were travelling in a black car in Radnor Park Road. They saw a moped travelling along the one-way road in the wrong direction.

As they continued driving onto Shorncliffe Road, near the junction with Castle Hill Avenue, the moped rider approached them and made threats before using a knife to cause damage to their car. The victims were able to drive away and the incident was reported to police.

An 18-year-old man from London was arrested on Thursday, December 19, in connection with the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries. Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage recorded in the area at the time of the offences to come forward.
