Malahide’s Grand Hotel has been bought from the Ryan family in a huge €55 million deal.

The hotel, which was owned by the family for 50 years, is being taken over by Irish and Spanish group FBD Hotels and Resorts. Over 200 people are employed by the hotel which dates back to 1835.

As part of the acquisition, a major upgrade is planning for the 202-bedroom hotel and its facilities. It will see the Grand Hotel become part of a portfolio that includes Faithlegg Hotel in Co Waterford, the Heritage Hotel and Spa in Co Laois, Castleknock Hotel in Dublin and Killashee Hotel in Co Kildare.
