Major update after freezing dog found locked in boot after Aston crash

A car containing a dog locked in the boot which crashed into a parked vehicle and was left abandoned had been reported stolen, police say. The dark coloured Volkswagen Passat ploughed into a parked vehicle along Dulverton Road in Aston, Birmingham.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 5.56am today (January 11), with West Midlands Police also attending the scene. Aston Fire Station posted on X to say the dog had left locked in the boot ‘through the night’ in freezing conditions.

The poor canine was taken into the care of officers. Police were pictured leading the dog into the side of a van using dog catcher poles.
