Major footpath reconstruction works costing £135,000 to take place in Wragby

The £135,000 works to reconstruct a footpath in a Lincolnshire village are due to commence next month. The works are set to begin on Thursday, January 2 and will be carried out on Victoria Street, Wragby between the A158 Lincoln Road and the town sign 450m north.

It is expected that the works will take place until Wednesday, February 5, with crews working on the site from 7.30am to 5.30pm Mondays to Fridays. The complete rebuild of this footpath is expected to be a big improvement in the village.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, stated: “We’re delighted to be able to get this footpath reconstruction underway in Wragby. The old path is past the end of its life and we are investing a lot into tearing up the old path and then rebuilding and replacing it with a new one.

“The improvement for those in the area will be immediately noticeable and will mean many years of use for residents.” Whilst the works are being carried out a road closure will be in place.

Motorists in the area should follow the signed diversion route, which will be the B1202 Wragby Road, B1399 Lincoln Road, A158 Lincoln Road and vice versa. Additionally whilst the team works from section to section on the road, the on-street parking will have to be suspended.

Councillor Davies added: “These works will cost around £135,000 to deliver and involve a crew carrying out a lot of work. Because of the nature of the work, a diversion route using like-for-like roads will have to be in place.

“This is for the safety of road users, pedestrians and the work crew itself.” He continued: “This level of local improvement isn’t possible to carry out without some disruption but we will do everything we can to complete the works as quickly as possible, and to keep disruption to a minimum.

“I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we are delivering this footpath improvement for Wragby.”
