Motorists are facing chaos at rush hour on the M25 due to emergency repairs in two different locations. Officials are carrying out important repair work anti-clockwise near to Brentwood and close to Waltham Cross.
The repairs are causing traffic to be slow in Essex whilst at Waltham Cross National Highways have warned drivers to expect ‘severe delays’. Just one lane of the motorway is open between J25 (Waltham Cross) and J23 (A1M) after a collision between an HGV and the central reservation barrier at 6.50pm on January 2.
The collision resulted in a significant fuel spillage and has meant the barrier needs to be replaced and the road resurfaced. For safety reasons two lanes have been closed.

The incident has happened at a location where lane one is already closed for long-term roadworks, leaving only lane two open to traffic. Significant delays are expected, with motorists advised to allow more time and plan for their journeys or avoid the route if possible.
In Essex there are also delays and slow traffic before J28 for the A12 at Brentwood due to emergency repairs and two lanes closed. Traffic was briefly held at around 7:10am as the lane closures were starting to be removed. Lanes one and two (of four) remain closed however lane three has reopened
