Traffic was stopped on the M2 in Kent due to an overturned vehicle. The incident was eastbound between junction 5 for the A249 (Sittingbourne/Stockbury Roundabout) and junction 6 for the A251 Ashford Road (Faversham).
Traffic monitoring site Inrix said traffic had been held since 3pm today (January 1). It was released around half an hour later but residual delays remained.
In an earlier post, Inrix said: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to overturned vehicle on M2 eastbound from J5 A249 to J6 Faversham.” It is still not yet known if any other vehicles were involved or if any injuries had been reported.
KentLive contacted emergency services for further information. Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 2.10pm on Wednesday, January 1 to a report of an overturned car on the eastbound carriageway of the M2, between junctions 5 and 6.
“Patrols and highways officers attended the scene where no injuries were reported and arrangements were made to recovery the vehicle.”
