A Lotto player was left on tenterhooks after narrowly missing out on Saturday night’s whopping Lotto jackpot of €2.3 million, falling short by just one number. The punter managed to match five numbers plus the bonus number in the main Lotto draw, meaning they were a hair’s breadth away from bagging the €2,361,859 jackpot and becoming Ireland’s latest millionaire.
Despite not hitting the jackpot, the player still has cause for celebration as they pocketed a hefty five-figure sum of €73,741 after scooping the Match 5 + Bonus prize. The numbers drawn in the Saturday night’s (January 4) main Lotto jackpot were: 05, 10, 13, 36, 37, 46 and the bonus number was 39.
In total, over 67,000 players won prizes in Saturday’s Lotto and Lotto Plus draws. In the Lotto Plus 1 draw, with a jackpot of €1 million up for grabs, the numbers to look out for are: 05, 14, 30, 35, 45, 46 and the bonus number is 42.
The jackpot in this draw went unclaimed, although 17 players bagged €500 each after matching five correct numbers. Meanwhile in the Lotto Plus 2 draw, which carried a top prize of €250,000, the numbers called were: 09, 15, 24, 26, 38, 41 and the bonus number was 02.
No players managed to match all six numbers to scoop the €250,000 jackpot, although 16 people won the Match 5 prize to pocket €250 each. There were also 73 winners of the Raffle Prize, with each player receiving €500, reports the Irish Mirror.
The winning raffle number was 1433.
The National Lottery is calling on players across Ireland to check their tickets, as they could be among the 67,000 individuals who won prizes in Saturday’s Lotto and Lotto Plus games. The lucky winner of the Match 5 + Bonus prize of €73,741 is encouraged to sign the back of their ticket and get in touch with the National Lottery Claims team on 1800 666 222 or via email at claims@lottery.ie to arrange for the prize to be claimed. If you’ve got a winning ticket that was purchased in a shop, remember to claim your prize within 90 days of the relevant draw date.
