Two London teenagers have been arrested after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run on Christmas Eve. The East London pair, a 17-year-old from Dagenham and 16-year-old from Chingford, were detained alongside a 20-year-old from Loughton, Essex.
Emergency services were called to Palmerston Road in Buckhurst Hill shortly after 7.30am last Tuesday. The pedestrian, aged in her 60s, died at the scene.
Police say a grey Jaguar XJ failed to stop at the scene. The road was shut throughout December 24 as police launched an investigation into the crash.
On Monday, December 30 officers arrested the trio on suspicion of multiple offences including causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
The 20 year-old has been released on bail until March 13 while the other two suspects have been bailed until March 14.
Detective Sergeant Sam Nason said: “My thoughts continue to be with the family of the woman who died in this incident and they are being supported by specialist officers.
“We are continuing to appeal for information about the collision and what led up to it. In particular, I need anyone who saw or has footage of a grey Jaguar XJ around the time of the collision in Buckhurst Hill and Chingford.”
Anyone with any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage relating to the crash is advised to get in touch with Essex Police. Please quote incident 171 of 24 December.
