A building in the city centre of Liverpool has been evacuated following the discovery of a “suspicious package.” The incident was reported around 12.50pm on Thursday, January 2, at a location on Union Street off Old Hall Street.
Merseyside Police confirmed that, as a precaution, Union Street has been closed off, and the building—believed to be The Capital Building, the largest office building in Liverpool—has been evacuated while emergency services respond to the situation.
Several cordons have been established, including one along Rumford Place and another on Union Street. The Capital Building houses numerous businesses, including Tesco, the Home Office, and RSA Insurance.
