Schools are shutting early today – due to snow. Biddulph High School has already sent pupils home from 11am today after heavy snow started falling mid-morning. The Conway Road school had closed completely yesterday. It comes as dozens of schools have shut today due to the overnight snow. The Met Office is predicting hours of snow from 4pm this afternoon. Sixteen flood warnings and 21 flood alerts remain in place for Staffordshire. Today’s Stoke-on-Trent weather states: “This afternoon will continue to see patchy cloud and spells of wintry sunshine. Scattered sleet and snow showers will feed in from the west, heavy at times. Winds will be gentle to moderate. Tonight, mostly clear skies are expected, with the odd patch of cloud. Showers, some wintry, are possible in the first half of the night. It will be a cold night with gentle winds.” This is a live blog. For the very latest on school closures follow our live blog below.
