The latest weather trackers show we could see snowfall across the Rebel County – including over Cork city – as Ireland’s cold snap takes hold this weekend.
Cork is currently under a Status Yellow advisory for rain, which is set to be upgraded to an Orange alert for rain and snow from 5pm onwards. This will last for 24 hours – during which most of the county will see plenty of rain and sleet, with most of the white stuff expected on higher ground.
Sadly, it’s unlikely that much of it will stick, with heavy downpours expected in many areas from this afternoon until late tomorrow evening.
There are currently some mixed reports about snowfall in Cork. Met Éireann’s latest forecasts aren’t showing much snow in any part of the county both today and tomorrow. Weather expert Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather has also said we’re in for a mixed bag over the weekend – you can check out his latest update below.
However, weather trackers Windy.com and Ventusky are showing widespread snowfall – even if it’s barely 1cm – especially in the North and North-West of the county.
You can check out Windy.com’s latest data on snow below. On their main site, it shows that between 6am and 6pm tomorrow, Kanturk could expect a whopping 12cm of the white stuff – but keep in mind to take any forecasts with a pinch of salt.
