LIVE: Cork Weather, Traffic, Travel alerts as Munster faces ‘bitter cold’ of -8C

It is another bitterly cold day across Munster and Ireland – ahead of what is forecasted to be the coldest night in some time, with temps in some parts of Munster to go as low as -8C tonight.

There is already disruption to traffic and travel this morning, with Irish Rail and Bus Eireann services affected, and reports of ice on Cork City and County roads making travel conditions difficult.

Met Eireann are expected to issued a number of weather warnings through today – with the strong possibility of an Orange Cold warning from the National Forecaster before lunchtime.

Through the day – as we have been since the start of this very cold period of weather – we will be bringing you the latest updates on travel, road conditions, forecasts and whether our schools will open tomorrow (Wedesday) morning.

The cheering news this very cold but bright morning is that the end is in sight – temps are expected to start climbing upwards from Friday ahead of milder weather ahead.

This mornign – there are warnings of icy conditions on multiple roads – including the high ground outside of Cork City around Watergrasshill.
