Derbyshire County Council has warned motorists in some parts of the county not to travel after closing more than 20 roads. The Met Office has predicted another night of below-freezing temperatures.
The council warned that gritting crews would be on patrol, however, due to the lower temperatures, they will be regritting the primary routes across Derbyshire meaning that roads may experience a delay in completion.
The Met Office has predicted yet another night of below-freezing temperatures, with some areas of the Peak District forecasted to reach temperatures as low as -15C in the early hours of Thursday, January 9.
As a result of the snow and rain that the Peak District has experienced over the past few days, the county council has released an update list of roads which will remain closed until they can reassess the situation tomorrow.
A spokesperson for the county council said: “Take care if you are travelling on the roads and remember never to drive into flood water or through road closure signs which are there for your safety.
“We’ll continue to monitor the weather conditions and we’ll do our very best to keep Derbyshire moving. We will update this page when we have more news.
