Leicester’s BBC The Traitors star Tyler discovers fate as tensions rise

Leicester’s Traitors star Tyler has been banished from the game after tensions rose in the latest episode. The barber became the latest contestant to leave the series – that’s despite being confident of his chances of survival.

Faithful Tyler came under the suspicion from many fellow players on Thursday night’s episode (January 9) – even those who he was closest to in the castle – after concerns about his behaviour were raised. The 29-year-old’s changing tactics and tendency to smile somehow put him in the firing line, reports PA.

Fingers were also pointed at Anglican priest Lisa and student Freddie during a heated debate at the roundtable as the contestants tried to decipher who are the remaining Traitors in the competition. Leicester man Tyler tried to defend the accusations against him, but was ultimately banished after receiving 12 votes from the other contestants.

After the vote, the barber addressed his fellow players in an emotional farewell. He said: “I just want to say I love all of you, it’s just a game, so just keep going and smash it. I love you. I am a faithful.”

Questions were also raised during the roundtable about why Lisa, 62, had continued to promise she was a faithful “as God is my witness”. This prompted her to finally reveal to her fellow contestants she was an ordained Anglican priest, which appeared to surprise some players while others did not believe her.

There was further strain earlier in the episode when traitors Minah and Linda decided to forfeit their “murder” in an attempt to recruit faithful Anna to the dark side. However, Anna decided to reject their offer.

She said: “They’re using this to scapegoat me, they’re going to throw me under the bus and then I’m going to have to stand up there and tell everyone I’m a traitor…If I want to leave the competition, I want to leave my way.”

Her refusal meant that no changes were made to the line-up overnight, which raised eyebrows with the other contestants at breakfast as they expected someone to have left after being “murdered”.

Those who survive and make it all the way to the finale have a chance of winning a chunk of the £120,000 prize pot but if a Traitor survives until the very end, unidentified, they take home the full prize pot, while any Faithfuls left go home with nothing. The Traitors continues tonight (Friday, January 10) on BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm.
