Leicester City fans call for action over ‘free Tommy Robinson’ stickers

Leicester City fans have slammed stickers backing convicted criminal Tommy Robinson at a match. The stickers, which have been labelled “bile”, also bore the Foxes logo on them.

The stickers were distributed at Leicester’s away game to Aston Villa on Saturday (January 4). Campaign group Leicester Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) claimed that the stickers, which bore slogans including “free Tommy Robinson”, were also found in the toilets at Villa Ground.

The controversial stickers also had slogans proclaiming “stop the boats” and “Starmer out” on them. Leicester SUTR members, who were at the game as Foxes fans, called out the stickers as “bile” and claimed a “few individuals” were responsible for them.

The campaign group said that fans “largely rejected” the stickers but wanted those responsible to be held to account. One fan said: “Like most fans, we trust the club will ensure anyone responsible for this bile is held responsible. We don’t want them at our multicultural club.”

Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was jailed for 18 months in October last year for admitting contempt of court by repeating false claims against a Syrian refugee. Yaxley-Lennon admitted 10 breaches of a High Court order made in 2021. He was the founder of the now defunct English Defence League.
